About the club

Newport Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course in Rogerstone. It sits about 300 feet above sea level among the trees of the ancient Llwyni Wood. The club was founded in 1903 and moved to its present Great Oak site in 1912. Sources disagree on who designed the course: the club's homepage says Harry S Colt, while Where2Golf and Golf Empire credit Willie Fernie (with Harry Vardon laying out the original 1903 course). The course has hosted the Women's Home Internationals, the Women's Amateur and the Girls Amateur Championship.
