About the club
Morlais Castle is an 18-hole moorland course in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons, just north of Merthyr Tydfil. Wales Golf's listing says it was designed by James Braid and opened in 1900, but other sources describe it as originally nine holes with Braid involved in later redesign plans, so the designer and date are not fully consistent. The front nine is built around an old quarry, the ruins of the 13th-century Morlais Castle lie along the third fairway, and the club won the Welsh Men's Team Championship in 2024.
