About the club
Mountain Ash is an 18-hole heathland/mountain course on top of Cefnpennar mountain, with views over the Cynon Valley towards the Brecon Beacons. It was founded in 1908 as Aberdare Valley, when professional J.H.S. Morris laid out nine holes on former sheep-farm land. Three more holes were added in 1919. The course has changed little since then and has heather, sloping fairways and blind shots.
